SNOWBOARDING IN AVORIAZ

EGYPT #3 - SOUKS
A couple of shots in and around the Souks of Cairo. Something went wrong with fixing this film after development, hence the multitude of little spots all over the photographs.

EGYPT #2 - AT THE PYRAMIDS
I don't know why this takes so absurdedly long. Some snaps from at the pyramids. Luckily the place wasn't very crowded - see aforementioned reasons - , but the price was we were heavily haunted prey by the salesmen and -kids.

EGYPT #1 - TOURISM
In the first week of March my family and I went Egypt. We were one of the first bunch of tourists to get in the country - and mainly in Cairo - again after almost all foreigners left due to the revolts and demonstrations. Tourism is, after the Suez Canal and oil, Egypts greatest source of income, especially for the small entrepeneurs and the average Cairene on the street. Most of them weren't happy at all with the revolts and demonstrations. They did appreciate the first steps towards democracy were taken, but having to miss out on over a month of income due to the lack of tourists was something most of them couldn't cope with. This is probably why most people seemed genuinely happy and relieved seeing us - the tourists - on the streets of their city again. We saw lots of people smiling, pointing waving and giving their thumbs up towards us, in a city that is normally fed up with tourists.

BEACH
First beach party this year and probably earliest initiated beach party in a long while. While temperatures were dropping below zero good times were being had. Also, Meker Skatepark got cleaned out. You guess where all those left over pieces of wood went.

TRAILER TRAILS 2010
And another roll of FP4 developed and scanned. Some photos from the Trailer Trails Jam last summer. Some rain fell down but all in all it was a great party, just as previous years. Riding dit take place but somehow I ended up with only one riding shot... By the way, this almost daily updates going on won't last long since the stock of undeveloped rolls has dramatically decreased in size to only one left. After that only God knows how long it will take again...

UK SUMMER 2010
A very few shots from a South UK roadtrip last summer. We both (Davey and me) had never been there and had both 10 free days left. On a late summer night we spontaneously decided to visit the UK. We booked a ferry for next morning and off we went. No reservations, a different campsite every night. It was a cool little trip, having seen Hastings, Eastbourne, Brighton, Worthing, Salisbury, Wales Brecon Beacon National Park, Oxford, Ramsgate and Dover. I have some more undeveloped rolls lying around and I think a few of those contain more photo's of this trip. You might or might not see those later.

TOO RANDOM...
...to come up with a title. It's fun to see how many different places one can get while only having one roll of film go through the camera. Here are photos from Wales, Dover (Calais), Middelburg, Domburg, Delft, Rotterdam and Deventer.

BEFORE THE SNOW
Before the winter and all the accompanying snow came, we had a good summer with lots of sun. This is our private little beach, you'll only get there by low tide, with good climbing skills or by swimming. This is the first roll I developed at home and I still had to figure out the right temperature and dillution and that kind of stuff. The negatives came out a bit underdeveloped, which I tried to fix in post. You'll still see a bit of uneven toning though.

HOSPITAL TRIP
What was supposed to be a good session at the trails turned quickly into a hospital trip. Colin had a mad slam and his shoulder looked weird so we went to have it checked. Two to three hours of waiting and the doctor (who by the way also was eager to put a needle in me because of some harmless scrape) said two of the bones in his shoulder kind of seperated from each other. You can see this in the last two pictures, the first one of what a shoulder is supposed to look like (i.e. his right shoulder), the next one what it does actually look like. Nothing a mitella and time can't heal though.

DALFSEN '10
It's gonna be a returning item on this site. Every year a couple of friends and I go to, or at least try to go to, a little wooden house owned by the family of one of my friends. We spent four days in the middle of the woods. It was a relief to just have a campfire and murdering neighbours for once, instead of the ever present internet and email. The photos I uploaded are rough and unedited scans, didn't leave any shots out either...So bear with me.

PINHOLE
So, what everybody does in primary school, I decided to do now. I made a pinhole camera out of wood. Hardest part is getting the box light-tight, especially the part where you load the photographic paper. The whole thing is still under development, and the results are still far from stunning. However, it's a fun process.
